At the moment, the UK gas price is higher than the US gas price due to the cost of freezing LNG and shipping costs. If the UK has its own gas, then they don't need pay for freezing and unfreezing LNG and the price should decline to be as low as the US price.
Before 2005, the UK had a gas surplus and the UK gas price was lower than the US price.
