You may have seen news that reappointed UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock has renewed his pledge to support the UK National Health Service (NHS) in going digital, with the announcement of a new digital aspirant program to accelerate uptake of digital technology across the entire NHS. In addition, it was announced the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the first time will commence assessing how effectively healthcare providers in the UK are using digital technology as part of their healthcare practice.
The proposal marks for the first time an all-encompassing program that will see all NHS Trusts directly supported in accelerating their digital maturity. Although a shift to digital and paperless healthcare is occurring within the NHS, official programs are currently largely confined to the Global Digital Exemplar (GDE) program which has tasked selected trusts with upskilling and creating a blueprint for other Trusts or it is being driven at the individual trust level.
We decided to share this news with the Hotcopper community as the UK represents our largest market, with 145,000 beds and a $1.1 billion market opportunity. The announcement by the Health Secretary marks a significant opportunity for Alcidion. It validates our growth strategy to scale up our marketing and sales capabilities in the UK, and with 19 trusts already using at least one Alcidion product we have a strong foothold to support this acceleration as the program is implemented.
