Ceres did some interesting work around its manufacturing costs etc and had some product backers - if not corporate backers.
If you read their announcements they are burning about 30m pounds per year and plan to have a product ready for trials in 2014 ahead of commercialisation in 2nd half of 2016! So you are looking at at least 120 mill pounds before they have a product to sell!
I take the point that their 1 kw units were well suited to UK housing, but our 1.5 to 2 kw units seem to be gaining traction in the very space that CFU always targeted - electricity distributors who would run them on mass as a virtual power station.
While I take the view that CFU should stick to its knitting, the Ceres dilemma does indicate that there may be scope for a downsized gennex aimed at the 1kw UK boiler market which Ceres may not be around to supply.
