I can not see how the economic benefit of becoming completely self sufficient in terms of energy supply would be put on the back burner by the British government - especially in these times. The small geographical size of the UK, proximity to towns, existing pipeline infrastructure, high population density and colder climates all bid well for DTE and I think the company has fantastic potential there.
Its been mentioned before, but just look at the US who are now morphing from the world's biggest refiner of imported crude to becoming a net exporter - all because of shale.
