The second wave of Swine flu in the Ukraine and Russia does seem to be increasing drastically in virulence with 94 fatalities in the last 96 hours in the Ukraine, which has a population twice that of Australia.
If we had 47 fatalities in four days here there would be major panic stations. Despite the WHO still insisting that these are random mutations, scientists are putting the chances of that at several trillion to one and far more likely getting transmitted. These mutations are more often happening in association with the H274Y mutation, which is tamiflu resistant.
Its time the WHO took its head out of the sand and confirmed transmission of these mutations is taking place and made relenza the first line of defence instead of the useless tamiflu.
