@Leapzig I have no love for any man of war
    - it seems to be the natural 'go-to' for the male sex to be aggressive and look what harm has been done to the world. It's also telling that it is easy to recruit young men into violence - as they get older their brains seems to suddenly kick in, but often it is too late.
And, yes, I am an old bat, have experienced the bombing etc. of WWII as a small and mostly terrified child -
Was protected by a brave mother who knew her way round the world, she spoke a Slavic language (Czech), spoke with Russians, 'saved' herself and her sis-in-law from a midnight raid in search of women by Russian soldiers (the Germans would have behaved similar or worse in Russia) a number of times, eventually seemed to have found a 'friend' who supplied us with bread etc. 'collaboration with the enemy' I only found out years later from a kind aunt.

But I live in the West now, in Australia - and I have allegiance to this country and to its 'buddies' for want of a better word. I may not agree with all their politics, I have severe criticism of the way society is going in America (which is the cause of all this crazy Trumpism) - but I live in a place where I can have a small bit of influence by voting, which party gets into power etc., I can wax long and poetic speeches on places such as this.
If I had the energy, I would probably have a correspondence going with politicians around the country - used to work for one in my working life and have seen a thing or two, but alas, my daily concerns take up all my energy.

We, collectively, have conquered and almost obliterated ll that is natural in this world and we have it in our power to destroy it - people like Putin, Zelensky, Trump and all their ilk have no appreciation of the actual power they could unleash, so we have to watch them, have our say, sway opinions if we can; all to keep this pathetic experiment called 'mankind' going for a bit longer and maybe we learn something about saving our planet from ourselves as well.
    My mantra is:
War is no way to live as a human.

Take care - (from an old bat)
