The Ukraine’s Ministry for Fuel and Energy held a meeting to review issues of diversification of nuclear fuel, construction of the centralized storage facility for irradiated nuclear fuel (INF CSF), nuclear reactor life extensions as well as drafting of a feasibility study of construction of 3-rd and 4-th reactor of Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant. As Nuclear.Ru was informed by the Energoatom’s press service, the meeting on January 25 was chaired by fuel and energy minister Yuri Prodan and attended by deputy minister Yuri Nedashkovski, Energoatom’s president Yuri Kovrizhkin, officials of the nuclear power and industry department of the ministry and representatives of Energoatom. Summing up the meeting, Prodan indicated the necessity to implement in an expedite manner the nuclear power development plans as approved by the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2030. In particular, the minister directed to fulfill all legislative procedures for the government could forward a bill on the construction of the centralized storage facility for irradiated nuclear fuel of Rovno, South Ukrainian and Khmelnitsky nuclear power plants by the 2008 yearend...
