@kolubara - I have never watched CNN - I get a lot of news from Europe - the truth is the first casualty of any war.
I do know that the Ukraine is a transit land for Gazprom - and one of the gas lines to Europe goes via the Ukraine - and the were supposed to get transit fees from that. One sticking point was the new gas line which has been completed and goes across the Baltic sea - i don't remember if it has yet 'opened' in, but know that was the beginning of 'the troubles'.
