    @kolubara - I am no expert in 'old German', but know for sure that a wagoner, one driving a wagon is a 'Kutscher' in German (a coach driver)
    "Wagner" is definitely someone who can put together a wagon, specifically all the metal parts required, as in Wainwright, the more precise description in German is also sometimes 'Wagenschmied'.

    Many middle Europeans also have Slavic roots, which hasn' stopped anyone yet being racist one way or the other. There is an English writer of amazing history books - who depicted Europe as being filled with immigrants from the East from earliest times. He is most likely right.

    I don't know much about Richard Wagner's background, just know he was an obnoxious and obsessed little man, who wrote some sublime music, most of which is too noisy for my liking (he was the one who increased the orchestra to the large orchestras we have nowadays), but he created a musical fashion and everyone began to copy him and compete with.
