Increasingly, it looks like some sort of partition of the eastern parts of Ukraine might be the way forward. Particularly as large numbers in the east, perhaps a majority, identify themselves more as Russians than as Ukrainians.
Ultimately, the role of a government should be to serve its people and if the people in the east, particularly those with Russian leanings, do not want the future supported by the majority in other areas of Ukraine, they should be free to go their own way. Either a new country, or a union with Russia if that is their choice.
Continued war is not a solution, but will only serve to exacerbate and entrench current problems. Time I think for the Ukrainian government to try to find a solution. In doing so, they will be then free to demonstrate to their (remaining) citizens the benefits (or otherwise) of their pro-Euro leanings.
