Italians have a history of 'dissent', even their parliament usually forms govt on a coalition without a majority elected party. I can understand their protest. Don't know anything about Bulgaria except working as a student at a wine shop in UK and the craze for a Bulgarian heavy red that did not reflect quality on the tiny price.
