Ukraine's pro-West alliance has a working majority
Ukraine's "orange revolution heroes" have managed to form a precarious parliamentary coalition two months after the country's election.
Yulia Timochenko expects to be named Prime Minister -- again! -- after joining forces with the Our Ukraine party of President Viktor Yushchenko, who dismissed her as premier before.
Their pro-West coalition will have a majority of just two seats. It could have been three, but one of the deputies in the president's party refused to agree to the controversial marriage.
Timochenko said she was under no illusions that there would be difficulties, but insisted she could form an efficient government and bring political hope back to Ukraine.
Timochenko threw in her lot with the president, despite their previous disagreements, when it became obvious her bloc could not beat outgoing Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich on its own.
Her previous government, and she personally, stood accused of corruption. But Timochenko has promised to form a new cabinet to "fight corruption once and for all."
