Ice wine was an exploration well, they had to prove that it was worthwhile proving up a production test well, ice 2. If not this would be a wild cat drill in ever sense and meaning of the word.
They chose to vertical drill ice 2 instead of original plan of Horizontal, for much the same reason, prove it first etc
