Yep the sun is absolutely savage now compared to what I remember as a kid/teenager learning to bodyboard and visitng the beach even in the 90's.
I've been lucky in that I go pretty brown rather than burn but I am sure there are still effects that can't be seen so easily and I still avoid it. Proper eye protection is important too.
