I have been travelling around the country in recent times checking out the current health, wealth and plight of our Aborigines.
Went to the Field of Lights dinner at Uluṟu recently about $300 per head. A pretty big event to organise but not one aborigine to be sited. The event was run by 2 Fijian blokes on working visas who did a brilliant job. They announced the Welcome to Country on behalf of the local Aborigines. The chef was Indian. The lady doing the explanation of the indigenous interpretation of the stars was Australian. The Didgeridoo player was a white fella. The blokes cleaning the toilets in the caravan park were Fijians. The Fijians on working visas sending home their pay to support their families back home and doing a bloody good job. Shame on the local Aborigines who are only seen hanging around the shopping area doing sweet F All. How in the hell can one be expected to respect these people under those circumstances in the heart of Aboriginal country.
