Ok I am opening up the debate, firstly I don’t support the statement and can’t see myself changing my mind any time soon. However I am keen to hear what others think of the idea of a voice to parliament by the Aboriginal peoples. I honestly cannot fathom the depth of complexity that agreeing to such a proposal would open up for less than 3% of the overall population.
And before you draw the race card on me, don’t you think that by establishing a voice or voices to the parliament by recognising one particular race over another that this would go against the very heart of fairness when trying to create an open and non discriminatory society?
For better or worse I believe the Aboriginal peoples were conquered/pushed/whatever off their lands and trying to retrofit this by changing the constitution to favour one group over another seems strange.
what do others think. Is there support for a Aboriginal representative voice to the Australian parliament?
