Uluru landowners and GPT close in on Ayers Rock deal 08:34 | 05.03.09 A deal between the Uluru's indigenous landowners and GPT Group over the sale of the iconic Ayers Rock Resort is expected to be reached this month.
It is understood that the Indigenous Land Corp has an offer on the table after completing due diligence on the resort, and GPT Group will either decide to accept the offer or take the resort off the market. GPT shaved well over $100m off the value of its tourism portfolio when it delivered an $3.25bn annual loss last week, taking the total value of its tourism assets to about $670m.
One source said an announcement was likely this week, but a person close to the deal said an outcome would be reached by the end of this month.
