You're right, Australia is awash with iron ore but most of it is of an uneconomic nature. There's approximately about only 30 years of DSO left in Australia at present. More reserves need to be proven up. How many reserves of +60% low impurity DSO of over 100MT have been discovered since 1990?
As for it being a sensitive area, looks to me to be a pile of old ruble with woody weeds growing on it.
