For example, if ice crystals in the capillary system were dislodged by some mechanism and freed for transport by the moving oil, these crystals could cause very serious blocking of the flow channels. In the 1960s they drilled a dry hole at Well 2 and then 200ft away did well 5 which flowed 400 BOPD for 90 days. Very confusing to them at the time.
The good news is that Linc have obtained a pristine perfectly preserved frozen core from well #18 so rather than than just "guessing" what is going on before the next campaign they can test lots of things in lab experiments (= MUCH CHEAPER than a drill campaign).
