Previous post got moderated for being Off Topic so here is a new thread for understanding the security situation in the DRC, a topic which would seem relevant to anyone contemplating an investment in that country.
The UN's current mission in the DRC is known as MONUSCO.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MONUSCO
Since 1999 the UN has spent US$8.74 billion funding peace keeping efforts and as of Dec 2015 there were more than 23,000 UN peace keeping troops in the country. India is the largest contributor of troops and people with just over 4,000.
The current force commander is a South African, Lieutenant General Derrick Mgwebi.
China's contribution to the 23,000 plus strong force is only 234 (13 experts and 221 troops).
