The proposed resolution to ban mining investment and exports for Eritrea has been watered down. The resolution now says mining companies should "exercise vigilence".
The US tried to force a vote through on the watered down resolution but was blocked by Russia. A vote will probably be held next week when the African countries have rolled off the security council.
