There is a problem with physically holding silver or gold either at home or under direct control.
In the eighties, there was an enormous spike in the gold price.
Many, controlling gold or silver directly, would not have been in the same position as investors who now are in Perth Mint, GLV, GLD or Gold mines and can sell at a moment's notice.
Also, those immediately controlling precious metals won't get the nearly full value as those mentioned previously, IMHO.
If at any time, those in Perth Mint, GLV or GLD want cash to do a real estate deal or whatever, they can do so at a moment's notice.
