agree with the obsevation that there is too much emotion, it seems to tie in with something that I remember reading over the last 12 months that was along the lines of " the psychological pain of losing a single dollar is three times that of making a dollars profit..."
After having read this and following a number of different stocks on this forum, the level of emotion contained in the posts always seems to be higher when a stock suffers a price setback.
Returning to reality, in my experience when there is a significant transaction being considered there are invariably delays that occur and this will contribute to SP volatility over time, if you have completed your own due diligence on a stock and believe in its potential then hold, if not move on.
