The average Russian is not a rich Russian as their wealth distribution in the country in very lop-sided.Thus "the average Russky" is probably not in the least interested in purchasing gold as he has to keep his stomach from rumbling from the emptiness inside and keep out of the way of the Putin threat of lawlessness and intrigue. I noted last week that companies like Shell and gold miner Kinross (last year produced 400,000+ oz ) have skipped Russia for safer pastures.-there are others....and Lithuania has halted shipments of Russian iron ore from its shores....and the UK last week banned Russian ships or their substitutes from using its ports....sooo....some things are happening "over there".Maybe Putin can be starved into submission....there are rumblings of the Russky economy not being on a very healthy footing if left to cope with very limited foreign income from limited commodities exports and possibly in as precarious a position as it was when the USSR collapsed.
