Of course you can choose to hold, but at some stage the losses and the potential for a long and drawn out recovery lead most people to cut their losses and try their luck elsewhere.

I was doing the math earlier on how many I could afford to buy if the price went down to $2.
I'd have to sell some of my other stocks in order to load up, and I may have to do so at a loss, but this company would be incredibly attractive at that price, and I would hope for a 250% increase on a 2 year hold.
But then again, who knows, this is a crazy market, and don't try to catch a falling knife and all that.
