The story on Basel III is very interesting indeed and very bullish for gold. More to be found in the internet. Upon implementaion the new regulations will affect gold and silver. Maybe that is the scheme Regis counted upon when acquiring Tropicana?! There are some worries that the problem for shortsellers might get so big that the new regulations under Basel III might be postponed. But even if that happens postponing the regulation change will not make it go away indefinetely. All facts considered it seems quite obscene to be able to paper-trade commodities in such vast quantities as stated by Patrick Heller in May 2021: "Right now, the COMEX currently has about $24 billion in short sales of gold futures contracts and another $1.6 billion in short sales of silver futures. "
