At the time I liked the Tropicana purchase, price paid at the time probably looked bad on paper using a discounted cash flow analysis, but all that depends on what people were estimating the POG to be. From that point on POG probably held up better than expected. So probably not as bad as initially looked. I am sure smarter people than me have run the numbers and we will get further incite in April when they update the resource levels. What I still don't understand is the way they funded it, why do a limited SPP that screws retail by not letting them average down (coiuld only buy 1.5x issued shares) and it set up a perfect arbitrage opportunity for the bankers to short the stock and make a quick 20% (look at the SP action on day of announcement down 17% at open). Why even a SPP at all, at that time we had no debt, about 300 mil in the bank, had a flawless balance sheet, if we couldn't have issued bonds at a favourable rating and price then no one could. Been meaning to ask that at a shareholder meeting but something always comes up.
