I listened to the entire AGM and as a shareholder it was just superb. Everything I have been saying for months are coming true.
1.The discussion about MFG performance was relating to how it under performed indexes coming out of Covid. You can check for yourself including dividends MFG total fund out performed by at least 3%, from March to October 2021. This is despite A$ going up by 2 to 3% during that period. A$ going up impact FUM initially, however it gives you down side protection too if the global economy slows down, FX gain will compensate MFG FUM. If and when A$ drops back to its long term average, the current FUM will be A$ 3B more.
2. Coming to the comparison, the portfolio list ‘lost’ has is worse than what was mentioned before. It looks like emerging markets are dominating not 35%.
3. As I said before at this stage of the economical cycle with unbelievable debt levels, highly dependent economics on imported oil except Russia with prices rocketing through, stimulus’s being removed around the world, I can’t imagine better portfolio than MFG.
3. This morning Hamish reiterated that as today no institutional investors have changed the mandate. If that case retail will not be material.
4. I wrote yesterday if and when Capital investments publishers that they have break even with half year results, MFG will be considered a growth stock again. Well today Hamish declared they have made bit of profit already. I know this is only 3 months, but these guys know what they are doing with those direct investments.

Just a side comment on how seriously we should be taking forecast of experts and ours too. According to AFR on the 8 of June 2021 JPM recommended to the clients that the Chinese developer Evergrande was a good investment . Just 2 months after they are on their knees unable to pay the bills. How good was this advice.?
