Excellent detailed explanation on the workings of ISP @aharley. I can tell you many years ago we signed up for mobile and home line/internet with TPG. Initially its started off OK but they continued to sign up people without increasing their back haul. Its the complete opposite to ABB where once they reach capacity in a certain area they wont take on new customers until they can upgrade their network and maintain speeds.

In the end their mobile and internet services over time turned into absolute shite and it was time consuming and painful to have to deal with foreign help desks that were hard to understand and showed little interest in helping you resolve problems.

It was always Telstra's fault or your fault and you had to ring multiple times just to get a service back online. In the end we left never to return, in the end it does not matter how cheap a service is if you are not getting a reliable service 99% of time. It has left such a bad taste in our, friends and family mouths that we have all vowed never to use TPG again after signing up with a premium player in the space that knows and gives you a premium experience. Who would use a electricity provider who had regular outages or brownouts and stay with them because they were 10% cheaper. In the end if you are not getting what you are paying for price becomes irrelevant.

On a side note I look back when I invested $800k into Telstra during floats 1,2 and 3. I thought the new entrant TPG would never take any meaningful market share from the gorilla in the space and stayed 100% in Telstra. Fast forward a couple of decades and with dividends I made a few bags on my original investment before rotating out and investing it into a 10plus bagger growth stock in 2015.

If I decided to invest all or part of those funds into TPG instead of Telstra I would now be sitting on a 35 Bagger now. This forum is full of misinformation, and those looking to influence others to get a cheaper entry to make a quick profit. People are inpatient and want quick returns and dont have the patience to sit on a investment for over a decade to see big multibagger returns like new IPO's like ABB that have so much promise.

Thanks for your time and input in the ISP space @aharley and hope you continue to provide your valuable insights into this space on this forum in the years to come.
