Thanks T7 for your hypothesis. Its definitely something worth thinking about, especially on a quiet day like today lol.
Have to say though, that I'm not convinced as yet, since if it was such an easy explanation, why didn't management just explain it as such?
It is not as if management shouldn't be aware of how their revenue would be recognised and as such should be forecasting based on those principles in the first place?
Also need to consider how significant is this timing lag between shipment to tolling manufacturer and shipment to customer.
For me at the moment, I'm leaning towards that the ramp up started later than management expected, and even though this may have lead to a shortfall in their projected revenue, they still felt they had the license deal to fall back on to meet the revenue figure.Unfortunately they couldn't negotiate that one on their terms within the timeframe.
Leaving my mind open until I get more facts however.
