Execution at AFG has been poor. Hiring that Packer reject to head up its cashbox did little for credibility and the recent deal was truly not understood.
Everyone was backing on the QAN prize, but that fell dead flat and AFG was a big winner if it went through.
It has to rid itself from the dogma of these events. However, agree that its just been pushed by herd behaviour at the moment, they are in niche sectors (rail/aerospace leasing) with only that other machine (Babc*ck & Brown) prominent in the sector.
At the current levels, AFG seems reasonable. Depending on your risk and strategy, holding for the long term will align with the wealth of the majority holders. Coe et al have their skin in the game and this is a good determinant for the future of AFG.
