I am a new holder and I have a few questions to help me better understand the business. I will appreciate if someone can provide me with answers or point me to reports etc that contain the answers.
1. How much competition does Appen have? Are there other companies that do exactly what Appen does? Are there only a few or dozens upon dozens?
2. What percentage of the market does Appen currently command? On their website they say that AI products will reach around $35 bn by 2025. It was $640 million in 2017. Appen revenue in 2017 was $167 million. This implies that Appen has over 20% market share? I would love for that to be true but it seems too good to be true. 20% market share of $35 bn would imply a revenue of $7bn in 7 years. That is 20 times higher than it is today and even if PE dropped to 20 by then, SP would still be 22 x 20 x 20 (future PE)/ 55 (current PE). = $160. This would require a Cumulative growth of around 33% in the SP - not out of the question I suppose.
