Another important factor is water content. I read recently that AJM had 2% moisture content in course material and 10% moisture in fines. Now if fines are 10% water that will have several effects. 1 reason is that you are paying 10% extra for useless deadweight and who is going to do that? hence the price drops. Secondly the processor has to remove that water for processing. 10% water would make a lot of steam coming off that when heated for the various processes to convert to LCE or hydroxide. Extra cost and surely logistical issues for the converter. Add to that Iron Oxide (Fe2O3) and the ever present Mica which forms klinkers in hydroxide process. An absolute nightmare for the converters. Hence why Talisons material is so sought after
