But what if, their customers CANT afford to buy high grade steel as their consumers dont want to pay $300k for a hyundai hatchback and instead want SEMI green steel? So use hematite, use hydrogen/electric arc furnace and Instead of 25kg carbon/ton, they generate 100kg carbon/ton which is still way better than 2500kg carbon using the old blast furnace (coal). Do you know what I mean?
What are the percentage of clients who want SEMI green steel VS fully green steel? Is that even an option? The answer to that question is probably going to be reliant on the penalties that the regulators set re: how much carbon is allowed when building a car, a building or products. That would drive that behavior i would think. I dont think anyone here can answer that but that to me is where the defining factor on whether this baby will be a multi billion dollar NPV vs mehh lets use semi green steel,
