In a speech starting with an anecdote about him meeting then-Prince Charles in Brisbane five years ago, Mr Gupta, executive chairman of the GFG Alliance, proclaimed that Australia could potentially become “the world’s largest producer of ‘green’ iron”.
“Too ambitious? Maybe. But let’s think big,” he told the Informa Connect Australian Hydrogen Conference in Brisbane on Thursday. “A new iron age is back, and this time, not in Europe, not in the ancient world, but right here in Australia. This time it will be the hydrogen iron age.
“The train is waiting at the station, and if we don’t leap aboard, somebody else will take our seat.” ..........
