‘Great interest from the transport sector’: Green steel movement builds momentum | Daily Telegraph

Australia’s ambition is to be a world leader in producing green steel – steel manufactured without using fossil fuels or creating carbon emissions.Swedish company, SSAB, has already made more than 100 tonnes of the product, which is currently being used in Volvo Trucks.US start-up Boston Metals is also producing green steel and has the backing of iron ore miner BHP.Sky News Australia spoke to SSAB and Boston Metals about their journey to create green steel."

What is interesting is the molten oxide electrolysis which isnt reliant on blast furnaces or high grade steel. The demo will be ready in 2025 and production in 2026 but I guess the question is, would steel makers want to throw away their blast furnaces? or modify it to accept hydrogen and utilize magnetite pallets instead? I guess the question comes down which of the two is more cost effective. As such, It is important that MGT gets into the market soon before this takes off though. Whatever it is the planet will win if either technology is used. GO GREEN!
