Malaysia has to start carbon pricing, tax ahead of EU's CBAM rollout in 2026 | New Straits Times | Malaysia General Business Sports and Lifestyle News (nst.com.my)KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will have to start implementing carbon pricing to facilitate carbon trading and look into carbon taxing as the European Union (EU) prepares to commence its Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in 2026.
Investment, Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Liew Chin Tong said the collections should then be channelled into green investment, including the investment into green steel."Carbon pricing, trading, and taxing are crucial aspects of the decarbonisation agenda. "Under CBAM, the export of steel and the other five listed items from Malaysia will be taxed by the EU, unless Malaysia collects the tax," he said."
When a third world country, whose primary concern are mainly centered around large profits, starts to look into green steel, you know the pressure is real. Malaysia, have you looked into MGT = Malaysia's Green Ticket to large profits? Come on down to SA town.
