Can you please expand on this belief?

It would seem that Military Service is almost an essential qualification for public office in the USA, particularly the role of Commander in Chief (ref castigation of President Obama on that score).

Why then would QAnon select someone with no military background & indeed someone whose draft deferments have been questioned?

because he does not get intimidated, and he does not need more money. That is if this supposition is true.
