My take is that they are focusing on oncology as the highest probability of creating shareholder value in a reasonable timeframe.
That said, I'm sure if Genentech came back with something they would consider it, particularly in light of the significance of the problem which the WHO suggests could knock 2% off global GDP by 2050 and cost 10's of millions of lives. That's not hype, that's common chatter amongst many scientists. It has them seriously worried. Just look at the China story today about superbugs. It's happening.
Given this context anyone who can develop treatments, which no one can yet, then you'd have to suggest it would have considerable value. From what I have read I'd suggest PYC's solution via Genentech could be as good a chance as any at resolving this. I'd be surprised in Genentech was not considering this very carefully, but don't expect there to be discussions via ASX announcements until they are ready.
In terms of the heading of this thread - Undervalued and Breaking Out - well I have to say I am extremely disappointed at just how poorly this stock is being rated. Getting absolutely no value out of an announcement as significant as their last one - or the one(s) before it is mind boggling. Hopefully they can work out how to get better value for their efforts in terms of recognition via valuation.
