"Antibiotic Armageddon" is a real issue but it's not like this has just popped up with these kind of end of world articles - they've been the headlines for years it's nothing new.
FWIW while Genentech haven't disclosed exactly what disease they are targeting in the antimicrobial space under this agreement i'd say it's a fair assumption to make that it's Pseudomonas aeruginosa given that both Roche & Genentech have already inked other deals chasing the same target over recent years.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa was also the target of PYC's deal with Astrazenca / Mediimune in 2010.
