Interesting article published last week written by an investment manager at Starfish Ventures (Melbourne venture capital firm with a decent life-science/bio team) around the challenges facing Australian Bio startups in commercialising their technologies.

    http://www.starfishvc.com/news/how-to-capitalise-on-australia-s-academic-success.html

To paraphrase, the Australian research/uni culture is not as supportive as the US around the commercialisation of new medical/bio technologies, which in turn means it's a smaller eco-system which results in scant capital available for these businesses.

By inference I then conclude that this weighs on the valuations ascribed to Australian bio's listed on the ASX as compared with their US counterparts. It seems only a deal with tens or hundreds of millions is enough to convince ASX investors of the value of Australian Bio's.

I think we all know there's huge potential sitting here, it would just be nice to see this finally reflected in the shareprice. At the moment we're trading an an EV of about ~$26M-ish? I bet there would be more than 1 pharma out there who wouldn't blink to takeover PYC for that price.

    Come on market, wake-up!

    Sentiment: bought more on Monday.
