some here prattle on about unemployment and even try to compare Australia to Spain etc. The reality here is that unemployment has been falling and has got to the point where staff shortages is beginning to be the problem.

Dont posters realise that when they try to compare our leading economy with the basket cases in Europe and the USA they lose all credibility. Dont they realise that during the worst of the GFC the stimulus money made sure we continued in a growth trajectory and jobs and businesses were saved. Our economy is the envy of the world and yet those countries faring worse than Australia realise that action is needed on climate change and have responded. The conservatives in New Zealand and in the UK have introduced a price on carbon. The UK with all its fiscal woes is pushing ahead its fight to reduce carbon emissions.

Australia is best placed now and will in the long run be advantaged by taking the initiative before we are left behind in transitioning to a low carbon emissions economy.
