Roy Morgan unemployment tumbles on lower participation
By Leith van Onselen Roy Morgan Research (RMR) last night released its unemployment estimate for the month of August, which registered a massive fall in the unemployment rate to 8.7% from 10.2% in July (see next chart). The fall in the unemployment rate was caused primarily by a large contraction in the labour force participation rate, although there was also a small lift in the number of jobs.
