A UNESCO report entitled "Blue-green algae bloom control method-Technical summary for decision makers" appears on PET's china website and is dated 12 December 2019. .

The report provides a comprehensive outline of the many types of cyanobacteria (blue green algae) and a description and assessment of the available physical, chemical and biological approaches to controlling the problem.
Clearly the report is not a sales pitch nonetheless the message that comes across is that Phoslock and Alum are the preferred control agents for large water bodies rather than for runoff.
Given Phoslock's advantage over Alum in terms of toxicity and PET's upcoming patented bag based product for controlling phosphorus in runoff, soon to come onto the market, it is really a no brainer for policy makers when deciding which way to jump.
