I agree to several of your points but should point out that lower AUD is bad for retailer's profitability (I etimate 90 odd percent of Myer's stock is imported- much of it private brand)
Lower interest rates will of course attract yield plays (IMO by far the dominant growth factor here) yet expansionary monetary policy is put in place to stoke sick economies. With Australians now saving more than the Japanese it will take a big run of confidence before any meaningful spending (from $ saved on mortgages) flows through..
Anyhow bumpy riode = lots of ST trading opportunities GL
