They will be importing Russian LNG or fracked gas from North America - cost A$18 /GJ (plus shipping plus local storage handling (FSR - floating storage and regas) so say another A$8) so A$26 /GJ = probably 4-5 times local supply cost for new developments ( if there were any) (also means marginal power prices will be extremely high)

So it’s just plain stupid- but so stupid you can call it clever if you are insane.

While we will be exporting either blue H2 or Ammonia at scale to Japan with massive margins and net zero to boot
