I give monthly to the UNHCR. Got a call from them some months back asking me to increase my monthly donation because of the Syrian refugee crisis. I happily acquiesced. I give up a bit of dining out and in return refugees - who through sheer bad luck and no fault of their own found themselves having lost everything - get much needed food, shelter and medical aid. The value equation is a no brainer.
By the way I'm not looking to get into a debate about Islam vs the West, or radical Jihadists. I just thought I'd explain why I'm doing it. Someone needs a bit of help, I am in a position to give help, so I help. It is as simple as that.
