What is the meaning of orthogonal, and what does it mean for DOM ?
My take on it is as follows...
The earths crust floats on an upper mantle which is continuously rotating under the crust thus causing a shear at 90 degrees.Best illustration is at www.search&discovery.com
The earths crust is anywhere between 7 & (200 km ? thick in a [Gawler] craton). This shearing causes the crust to elongate and slump at different angles to the earths centre. How far the Challenger shoots go down is a matter of conjecture...but they may only be economically mined to (say) 2 km,
All this means is that should the M6 shoot be confirmed it could be laying at a different angle to the M1 shoot. This may change the economics of mining it.
Other matters.
I think we will see an increase in production throughput to capitalise on the price of gold.
Mining to date seems to be only on the M1 shoot, and it was said in the last quarterly that they had reached "steady state" & "repetitive cycle" mining operations.
This would leave the way open to focus on opening up the M2,M3 ,SEZ shoots to utilise the spare 20 % unused mill capacity.
Challenger evaluation of M1 & M2 shoots seem to be getting good results...some of the holes attributeable to the M2 shoot are 135 m below previous resource statements...so some good should come out of it.!!
Not much exploration activity was reported last quarter....several non Challenger areas were promised to have drill bit reality applied to them.
In all I expect a positive quarterly..surprises should be on the upside...note however that reserve increases as at 30 th June 05 were not reported till the Sept 05 quarter.
The DOM style now is to report 2 weeks prior to the statutary date.
Exercise patience..Rome wasn't built in a day.
