I think any (profitable) company that isn't paying over 5%pa divi ATM, is going to see investors pull out and share prices get hammered and that includes, ironically, the big banks imo.
Why keep your money in stingy ASX stocks when you can get close to 5% by having your cash in an ING term deposit?
These companies are walking a fine line with anaemic dividend payouts!
