An example of OHS/ union imposts.
My brother is Mech engineer contracted to BP refinery.
Unions demanded all walkways around the stacks and plant be widened from 500mm to 750mm. (jobs for the CFMEU boys)
Cost to do this was many millions, and the final straw, so BP just planned closure of the refinery instead. Import the petrol and diesel from Singapore.
Do you know what that means strategically??
Our oil reserves will fall by another two weeks, to only days supply in the system.
All the jobs at the refinery lost. Another will never be built.
More money goes overseas to buy refined fuel
Now there is no refinery for the shale oil at Gladstone, so now one of the worlds largest deposits of shale oil cannot be recovered, potential jobs there, highly paid, lost;
Insanity at its best.
